 2023 Preview 


       Center Point completed the 2022 season with a 9-2 record. With their 5-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 6A region six, the Eagles earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Center Point reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Hartselle by a score of 36-26.

       Since 2010, Center Point has gone a combined 72-73. Their 49.7% winning percentage ranks 33rd in Class 6A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Center Point has managed to compile a record of 117-152. Their 44.0% winning percentage ranks 40th in Class 6A and 243rd in the AHSAA.




       The Eagles are led by head coach George Bates who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 40-20 over the past five seasons at Center Point. Under his direction the Eagles have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Bates. Over the course of his career, Coach Bates' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of nine times and won one region championship.

       Center Point has been a consistent winner over the past five seasons under Coach Bates. They just play in a very tough region in the Birmingham area. The Eagles return six players to the offense and nine to a defense that played very well most of last season.

       Deon Moore will be the starting quarterback when the season opens. He is a versatile dual threat and ready to continue the success at Center Point.

       Center Point enters the 2023 season with a string of 6 consecutive wins on their home field at Bowman Field.

       The Eagles should be in contention for a playoff spot in region six this season. Hosting a first round playoff game on their home turf would be an advantage.

       The Eagles open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Tylertown MS on Friday, August 25.

       This will be the second meeting between Center Point and Tylertown MS on the football field. The Eagles have a 1-0-0 record against Tylertown MS. They last met in with

       Center Point lost 6A All-State  running back Troy Bruce Jr. to graduation. He was named to the second team last season.
